Stephanie Leiser

Stephanie Leiser graduated from the Evans School Ph.D. program in 2014 and continues to teach courses in financial management and tax policy at the Evans School. Her research interests include state and local tax policy, budgeting, and financial management.
Prior to starting her Ph.D. at the Evans School in 2009, Stephanie was a tax policy analyst for the Michigan House of Representatives, where she worked on several major pieces of tax legislation and developed a particular interest in business taxation. Her interests led her to pursue a Ph.D. at the Evans School under the direction of her faculty advisor, Justin Marlowe. She was also the recent recipient of a 2013–14 University of Washington Presidential Dissertation Fellowship. She successfully defended her dissertation, “Essays on State Business Tax Incentives and Policy Diffusion” in August 2014.
